Makeup Monday…

All about beauty tips every Monday.
I was inspired over the weekend to talk about Lip-Liner. I love liner. I do not wear it all the time, but when I want to have more of a defined lips, I make sure to pull out sharpener and get it ready.
Over the weekend I was at a party where I knew no one and there for I was talking to everyone. I happen to stumble across the cutest college kid. We made small talk for a bit. but, I could not help but look at her lips. This 5 foot nothing petite little things lip-liner was taking over her entire face and distracting me from the rest of her beautiful features. I wanted to grab her hand take her into the neatest bathroom and give her a lesson on how to apply and wear liner and lipstick.
This is why I wanted to make sure I give the lip-liner 101 to you all. It is super easy to just blend your liner and lipstick together. It will enhance your lips and not distract from your beauty.

Step one:
Apply lip liner to outline your lip. If you think by going outside you actual lip line will make them appear bigger… You are sooooooo wrong. You will end up looking like BOBO the clown.

Step two:
This step is the secret tool to blending liner and lipstick. Put on your lipstick on horizontal instead of vertical. I use a lipstick brush to make sure I my lips are even. However, either a brush or your actual stick will work great. Just do it like you would brushing your teeth, up and down not side to side.

Step three:
After applying your lipstick HORIZONTAL, Blot your lips and apply your lipstick one more time. It sounds tedious to be  blotting and re-applying. By doing this will help your lipstick last longer on your lips.

Final Step:
Apply lip gloss, MAC glass, or what I use Carmex to give a shine kissable look.

Cellulite Be-Gone

Make-up Mondays are back-  and I am bringing you a home remedy that will help prevent cellulite. I have heard of this remedy before, and I was a skeptic because I have tried almost everything and nothing worked yet. Dr. Oz had this on his show this morning and here is what he posted on his site.  It is Dr. Oz tested and I am a sucker for that Dr.

Coffee Grinds Scrub for Cellulite:

Method: Combine ½ cup coffee grinds with ¼ cup brown sugar. Place olive oil over areas of cellulite and then rub the rub mix into skin in a circular motion. Scrub for 5 minutes to exfoliate.

Verdict: True! Caffeine can enhance fat metabolism, especially right beneath the skin. It’s easily absorbed when applied directly on the skin. It’s also a diuretic, so it gets some of the fluid out of the fat beneath your skin so that cellulite is less visible. Olive oil is a moisturizer and an emollient, which softens the skin. The brown sugar works as an exfoliate. Although this is not permanent cellulite fix, it’s an effective temporary solution.

Check out more home remedies on Dr. Oz website.

Be Ready…

My boyfriend of four years has a saying…“You don’t have to get ready if you stay ready” I am sure he picked it up along the years from someone wise. When he mentioned it to me, I took him very serious. That is the most real and honest saying that everyone should live by. That is why I created an easy to follow Checklist of staples that you should always have on hand for any surprised  night out.

Robe It Up…

I have discovered from freezing in my San Francisco Apartment that a robe is my new key essential garment to have around this winter. Imagine wrapping up fashionably tight after showers, cold mornings, or nightly baths. You will not regret investing in a Silk, Cotton, Velvet or cashmere wrap around robe that will keep you warm and confident. Just think (God forbid) if for some reason you had to leave your home unexpectedly during the morning or night, you would look fabulous, put together and warm. If you do invest in a robe please stay away from the terry cloth killers. They make any women’s shape look 15 pounds heavier and Not to mention un-flattering to your figure and the new fabulous you.

I found this velvet robe at Nordstrom…

I found these light weight little numbers at Victoria Secret  online…

New Year, New Me….

I am not big on New Years resolutions.  What is the point of making a promise to yourself if you don’t take it seriously?  For many people resolutions are easy to make but even easier to break.  I decided that this year will be different.  I am going to create a New Years resolution but call it a life-changing move and promise to myself.  I am dedicating 2010 to myself and focusing on who I want to be in life and in my career.  2010 is not going to be an easy year for me  I have to realize I will be working very hard with what I want.  That is why I have created a step-by-step plan to make sure I am on the yellow brick road in search for my own emerald city.

I am a to-do list type of girl.  I love nothing more than to write up a list of things that I have to get done and check them off when I have accomplished them.  That is why I have created an outline, or blueprint, for not only myself but for all of you to make 2010 dedicated to you.  Whether if you are  just beginning your career and in life or well into it, this cheat sheet will make it easy for you to commit and follow through.

1.Make a list of your goals: Start off with a rough draft of things you want to accomplish.  Career, family, diet, saving money–whatever it is, write it down on paper or save it on your desktop to get it down on something solid that you will not lose.  After you do that look at it again and be realistic.  Did you write down lose 20 pounds by November?  Yet,  you have plans to go out to dinner and drinks with the girls this weekend.  If you want to lose 20 pounds you have to make sacrifices and may have to pass up those cosmos and bread baskets more often.  Did you write down be successful and move up in your company? If you did and you are not putting yourself out there and taking chances at work, chances are you are not up for the next promotion.   I have learned by writing goals down and then coming back to them later to re-evaluate them makes you look at it outside of the box.  You have to mentally prepare yourself for the goals you have written down and hold yourself accountable.  Many people who are successful got there through dedication and hours of hard work.  Are you ready to work hard???

2. E-mail your list to  friend’s and family: After narrowing down the list of goals for 2010 next step is to e-mail or make copies and mail them to all your closest friends and family.  Anyone who you know will check up on you and make sure you are staying on track.  I e-mailed my list last night to five people in my family and my  friends. I told them in the e-mail that 2010 is the year of change for me and I would love the support of them  making sure I stay focused and true to myself and my goals.

3. Be all that you can be: If you have on you list for example to be a better wife or mother, then do just that! create time to spend with the family think up new activities you all can do as a family. You want to run a marathon? Start researching marathons in your area and join a running group that will gear you up for that exciting journey. Make sure you do something everyday to help get closer to your goal.

4. Put your goals in your calendar every week: That way you will have a weekly reminder of what you should be doing to better yourself.  I look at my calender often, so its nice to see my goals as a reminder to stay on track.

5. Like the famous Nike Phrase JUST DO IT!!!!!:  Stop making excuses of why you can’t accomplish your goals you wrote down, you wanted this so stop complaining and JUST DO IT.

6.Take every opportunity that comes your way: Whether if your friend asks to go on a run on a Saturday morning or your boss asks you for drinks with clients, make the most of everything that comes your way. This is not the year to shy away.  Speak up and include yourself in everything!

7.Reward yourself: After working so hard and staying so focused in 2010, reward yourself!  You may not have received that promotion yet or reached your exact goal weight. But,  if you did everything you could do to better yourself and you can see the change, take some time to congratulate yourself.

Nothing happens overnight.  It takes lots of time and hard work.  Just focus on what you want everyday and remember to never give up on what you want to achieve and who you want to become.  This is your life and only you have the power to make things happen in it.

Here is to you and your fabulous new life in 2010!
