Makeup Monday…

All about beauty tips every Monday.
I was inspired over the weekend to talk about Lip-Liner. I love liner. I do not wear it all the time, but when I want to have more of a defined lips, I make sure to pull out sharpener and get it ready.
Over the weekend I was at a party where I knew no one and there for I was talking to everyone. I happen to stumble across the cutest college kid. We made small talk for a bit. but, I could not help but look at her lips. This 5 foot nothing petite little things lip-liner was taking over her entire face and distracting me from the rest of her beautiful features. I wanted to grab her hand take her into the neatest bathroom and give her a lesson on how to apply and wear liner and lipstick.
This is why I wanted to make sure I give the lip-liner 101 to you all. It is super easy to just blend your liner and lipstick together. It will enhance your lips and not distract from your beauty.

Step one:
Apply lip liner to outline your lip. If you think by going outside you actual lip line will make them appear bigger… You are sooooooo wrong. You will end up looking like BOBO the clown.

Step two:
This step is the secret tool to blending liner and lipstick. Put on your lipstick on horizontal instead of vertical. I use a lipstick brush to make sure I my lips are even. However, either a brush or your actual stick will work great. Just do it like you would brushing your teeth, up and down not side to side.

Step three:
After applying your lipstick HORIZONTAL, Blot your lips and apply your lipstick one more time. It sounds tedious to be  blotting and re-applying. By doing this will help your lipstick last longer on your lips.

Final Step:
Apply lip gloss, MAC glass, or what I use Carmex to give a shine kissable look.

One Dress Two Ways…

I have fallen in love with this cobalt blue silk belted dress by Jason Wu. It is a must have staple for any evening event this season. I decided to play up two totally different looks that will leave everyone gasping for air the moment you walk in.

First…I wanted to show off an edgy side to this dress. Starting off with some funky McQ Alexander McQueen studded neon pink Pumps. Throw on an over the top Tom Binns Swarovski bib necklace, and a Stella McCartney Neon-trimmed faux python clutch to tie the entire fashion forward look. It is a bit eccentric but totally worth it. I’d say “DO IT” if you are feeling like your inner rock star vixen wants to come out.

If you want a more Grace Kelly vibe, I put together a ravishing classic look. Starting off with Valentino at your feet. These classic satin peep toe pumps have an exceptional detail with crystals on the  bows giving a simple yet elegant finish. I also incorporated a modern take on the neck line. Even though this Bottega Veneta oxidized necklace is far from our grandmothers pearls, it is still subtle yet an intriguing piece of jewelry. To top it off, I added the signature Bottega Clutch. Big enough to fit your keys, lip gloss and a credit card.

Either way, This dress will have you be the talk of the town either edgy or classic. Let me know which girl you are… Classic or Edgy?

Back to School…

Remember the days of going back to school was the best part about summer. Of course after a week in, the novelty wears off and you already went through your new school clothes. Now a days, all of our days are running together we don’t have summer to spend with friends or gearing up going back to school.

I am here to introduce a new rule. I have made the decision to go back to school shopping for myself this year. Just because I am no longer in school does not mean I have to give up my favorite pastime.  I put together two looks that I know will mix and match everything I already own in my closet.

My first look is my  “Working Girl Chic” Something that every 9-5 lady can put on in the morning and feel refined all day long.  Instead Of a new backpack I would need an iPad case and will be trading in my  lace-up Chuck Taylors, for Givenchy heels.

My other look that fits my alter-ego personalty. I call this look “Classic on Acid”  Something a little more edgier but still sophisticated. All the kids on the playground will be either envious of me or intimidated of how kick ass I will look.

Both of these outfits cost well into the thousands of dollars range. However the great thing about back to school shopping when you are my age, is that you will not be growing out of your clothes in 6 months. These are all investment pieces that you will have in your closet for years to come. Who said going back to school is a drag?

Fanny Packs are Back???

The name “fanny pack” originated in the UK. Fanny in the US means tush, fanny across the pond means vagina. Fanny packs reached the peak of their popularity in the late 1980s and early to mid-1990s. Today, fanny packs are considered to be a fashion faux pas. “Weird Al” Yankovic, for instance, mocks the wearing of fanny packs in his song “White and Nerdy.”

That is not stopping some of  top Designers   reintroducing them back into the main stream and giving them a new name. Goodbye fanny, Hello “belt bag”. Some of the top fashionista Celebs are pushing for this trend to catch on. Can fanny packs re-invent themselves and make a bigger comeback then before??? If Mariah Carey can have a mental break down on MTV and then get dropped from her label only to come back bigger then ever… I think the new and improved BELT BAG  has a good chance.

Top designers like  Dolce and Gabbana showcased belt bags all over their Fall 2011 runways. It has come along way from the nylon neon obnoxious color we once saw. You see fine leather, sophisticated styles and not to mention it leaves you hands free all day long.

I have had my signature Gucci Fanny  belt bag that has been in  my bag collection for years. I think I secretly love this trend and will be busting it out and rock it.

Casey’s Side Note:::: All I ask is if you have a pet, please do not feed into this trend and mix the belt bag and pet carrier. This should not have even been created. The dog in this picture looks upset and un-happy. My advice, Do the belt bag trend but please do not include your animals.

Your Boyfriend Is Your New Accessory…

Don’t leave home without your boyfriend blazer this summer! He may turn out to be your favorite must have accessory. You can take him to work over a button-down or paired with heels and a sassy top for going out at night. Make sure you roll up his sleeves and add some colorful bangles to your wrist.

The key ingredient to make this seasons trend work for you is to pick a jacket that complements your body type. A boxy-cut may hide your waist and add weight to your frame. Make sure you can button the jacket and when you put your hands straight out in front of you, give yourself enough wiggle room for movement. Whatever your shape, wear a figure fitting underpinning with a bright fun color to make it even more slenderizing.

Don’t Forget to have fun with your boyfriend Jacket. Add fun jewelry that is chunky, loud and fun.
